About lovelivingincolorado

My husband and I are transplants to Colorado and we love it here!!  There is so much to see and do in Colorado that I thought it would be a good idea to start documenting our adventures via blogging.  We appreciate any suggestions on all things Colorado.

  1. Root down’s veggie burgers are amazing! LoHi Steak Bar and Sushi Hai is awesome, and in the same hood. Also, 730 South on University may not look like much from the outside, BUT their brunch and mimosas are amazing.

  2. Thank you for following Bucket List Publications blog.

Please feel free to follow along at the Bucket List Publications Magazine as well.

  3. Hi,
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Our sites might be in good collaboration…I write mainly about Denver restaurants and beer (but not just from CO though we have a lot of good ones :). And it looks like your blog is a lot about places to see and activities in CO?

Colorado is a great state!! 🙂

    • Hi,
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I typed Colorado in the topic search and your blog showed up. I am really glad because the picture of Agave Wheat hooked me in. I look forward to seeing future posts from you. We do live in a great state:) Have a great weekend.

  4. Hi there! Thank you for stopping by my blog 🙂 I have never been to Denver, but spent some time in the Rockies last August. It is such a beautiful place! I have heard a lot of good things about Denver too – I am sure your adventure there will be wonderful! Good luck 🙂

  5. I’m glad you’re enjoying your time in Colorado. Do explore all the mountains, they’re so different from north to south and east to west. And don’t forget the hot springs! Thanks too for liking my post. Cheers!

  6. I was born in Denver and have stayed. Love our state! Kelly – co-owner Sipping N’ Painting

  8. While Denver is an amazing city, go visit the western slope of Colorado. I lived in Crested Butte, it’s a small ski town with amazing cuisine and beautiful scenery. To access CB, you must drive through Gunnison. Gunnison is off of 50, along that drive, you’ll lay your eyes on the largest body of water in the state; Blue Mesa. You and your husband would love Telluride Blues and Brew’s fest! Telluride is pretty amazing as well! And further southwest, Mesa Verde is a must see for Colorado, it’s an ancient Anazazi dwelling. Anyone who is blessed to know Colorado, loves and appreciates that wonderful state. Happy exploring!

    • Thank you for all the wonderful recommendations. I appreciate the follow too. I can’t wait to check out Mesa Verde. I have looked it up on-line and it looks amazing. On our “to do” list definitely.

  9. Just wanted to say thanks for stopping by, and nice blog. I’ve been fantasizing about living in Colorado for some time… it’s one of few imaginable geographic possibilities for my future job prospects. I hear it’s very dog-friendly, which makes it that much more appealing to me. Apparently, there’s a great mix of urban and natural life to be found in your state. And your blog seems to celebrate and revel in that. I like that.

    • Thank you! We are Shiba owners and I love to browse Shiba blogs and see all the great pictures. When we lived in Portland we joined a Shiba Inu Meetup Group which we are still a part of and when we lived in Northern California we attended the Shiba Fanciers of Northern California Picnic. We haven’t joined any Shiba groups here but Colorado is dog-friendly and everybody seems to love a Shiba here! 🙂

      • Sounds like you’ve lived in some wonderful places. Portland is also high on my list…

I know Shiba Scout Rescue in Colorado is quite active. Which is both good and bad, I suppose — means a lot of Shibas are needing to be rehomed, but also that there seems to be a network of good people who are willing to look out for these special dogs.

      • I have heard of Shiba Scout Rescue in Fort Collins. We have met other Shiba owners at the park who have adopted from Shiba Scout Rescue. We have been very lucky in all of the wonderful places that we have experienced. Portland was out of this world!

  10. Very nice blog here! I’ve been to your fine state several times in the past couple years, and it’s just beautiful. I know I haven’t gotten to see even the tiniest fraction of what it has to offer, so reading through here made me think about the things I have seen, and the reasons I must go back 🙂

  11. Hi! Although I’m not one of the original cross-the-land-bridge-from-Siberia natives, I was born in Colorado some years ago…Even though I crave the ocean, I’m not sure I could leave the mountains. Do you hike, mountain bike, rock climb, cycle trails…I can give you tons of hints! Welcome!

  12. We LOVE Colorado! We try to visit at least twice a year. We visit Mancos often to see our friends. We also have a thing for Pagosa Springs. We love kayaking the town section of the San Juan, sitting in the hot tubs and walking the river walk. Also spent some time in Estes Park working at the RMNP before officially going to College. Yes, we LOVE Colorado. So glad to find your blog! Cheers-

    • Thank you so much! I appreciate the follow and the enthusiasm for Colorado. We have lived in quite a few places and Colorado just has something special. I am definitely going to check out the places you mentioned. There is so much to do and see that I think I need to redo the “about” section of my blog and simply state–follow our journey as we try to see and do a zillion things in Colorado:)

  13. How cool! We are heading out on the road this Friday to move to Northern Colorado! Great info! I would love in someone could suggest cool locations to do portraits of clients – accessible old barns, etc!

    • We did. Our moving trucks got smaller with each move. I learned that Craigslist was my new BFF for selling stuff or getting rid of it before our moves. Packing is a pain but so is unpacking. The less I have the better. My husband is very happy we haven’t had to move in a year and a half. I secretly love it though because it is an adventure:)

  14. Great site – I can’t get enough of Colorado pics! Have you ever been to the Canon City area? If not, you’ll have to come and explore! Hope you are safe from the wildfires where you live!

    • Hi! Thanks for stopping by. We haven’t visited the Canon City area but we need to. Can you recommend any places for us to see? We are safe from the wildfires in Denver. They are scary. We need a good rainstorm.

  15. There is a benefit show for people who’ve lost their houses to the fires this Sat the 21st at Trailside Saloon in Thornton. I’ve never been to this establishment and I’ve heard there are a bunch of bands playng, but the only one I know of is Resonance and they are modern rock. I don’t know all of the details as far as when it starts but I am heading there at about 8. It is an 18+ venue and $5 cover so if you know anyone who is in the area who might like to see some live music and support a great cause- send them that way 🙂

    • Thank you for the recommendation. Sorry it took me so long to respond. We have had lots of company this month. I appreciate the heads up on the concert. We didn’t make it to the concert but you are right it was a great cause. Please keep me posted on more events here in the area. Have a great day!

  16. Welcome to Colorado 😉 . There is absolutely so much beauty to see!! Looks like you are off to a great start!! While on Mt Evans you should stop on Mt Goliath. The garden there is amazing and the short hiking trail that leads through the Bristlecones is stunning!!

    • Thank you! We did stop at Mt. Goliath but only for a very short time. Next time we drive up there we will definitely check out the garden. Any other Colorado recommendations…please send them my way!

  17. Would you have any interest in swapping posts? We just put a short post up with links to other pages on our blog/website about seeing the fall colors and breweries near some of the best spots for changing Aspens. You cover a lot of ground with food and places to visit that would be great additions to our Colorado Brewery Days wesbite. I think it could work as a “reblog” or a featured post. Just a thought . . .

      • Awesome. We just returned from a fall colors trip (outlined on the website), so I’m going to put some updates together, combine a few things and send your way . . . not sure how to work in photos, or if the “reblog” function might work best for this? (never used that before . . .) Suggestions?

The fall colors are stunning right now . . . peaking from I70 to Aspen, but with lots of time (ten days?) for more color explosion near Kebler Pass/Crested Butte/Gunnison south . . . seems like good timing to get the word out for those of us who love living in Colorado!

  18. I will soon be moving to Denver, and am already starting to feel homesick with the thought of leaving family and a great job. Would you be interested in writing a guest blog on my site? Possibly write about top 5 things Colorado has that California doesn’t? Let me know – thanks!

    Esperanza Foft

    • I would love too. I have never written a guest blog spot so please let me know what I need to do. I think you will like it in Colorado. Plus, you can get great flight deals on Frontier and Southwest. Both airlines offer non-stop to Sacramento and the flight is not long at all.

  19. Hi neighbor! I’m @trishkthedish from Instagram! Glad to find you on wordpress too! My husband and I moved here to Fort Collins 2 years ago from Southern California and are so glad we did! I’ve enjoyed your Instagram account and now Looking forward to reading your blog! -Trish
